Authors

The late James C. MacDonald, of the Ontario and B.C. Bars, was senior partner at MacDonald and Partners in Toronto. Mr. MacDonald was one of the founders of Family Law as a specialized area of practice. The founding chairman of the National Family Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and the founding president of the Family Mediation Service of Ontario, he was the first recipient of the Canadian Bar Association’s Award for Excellence in Family Law (1997). Mr. MacDonald was one of the most published lawyers in the field of family law and was co-author of The Annotated Divorce Act; The Annotated Ontario Family Law Act; Canadian Divorce Law and Practice, 2nd Edition; Child Support Guidelines: Law and Practice; Handling a Family Law Matter in Ontario; and Law and Practice Under the Family Law Act of Ontario, Revised Edition. He was president of the Toronto Collaborative Law Group, an organization devoted to settling family law matters using co-operative instead of confrontational strategies.

Ann C. Wilton, B.A., M.A. (Oxon), LL.B., is a research lawyer at the firm of MacDonald and Partners in Toronto. She contributes to various publications by the firm and aids in preparing materials for the courts and appeals. Ms. Wilton is the co-author of The Annotated Divorce Act; The Annotated Ontario Family Law Act; Child Support Guidelines: Law and Practice; Enforcement of Family Law Orders and Agreements: Law and Practice; Law and Practice Under the Family Law Act of Ontario, Revised Edition; Family Law Arbitration in Canada; and Spousal Support in Canada, 2nd Edition.
